A closer look at rhinoplasty in South Korea
Previous surgery

My first surgery did not give me the result I wanted.

Prepare for a revision consultation that addresses what happened, what can change, and what another operation may involve.

A revision consultation starts with understanding the earlier operation and your current concern. Bring records, implant or graft details, photographs and a timeline of symptoms. Ask the surgeon to distinguish appearance, structural support and breathing issues before discussing another procedure.

Reconstruct the history before choosing a technique

Write down when each procedure happened, what you were told was used and when the current concern began. Request operative notes from the previous clinic if available. Include any infections, additional procedures or changes in breathing. You do not need to diagnose the problem yourself; the history helps the next surgeon explain what needs examination.

Separate the problems you want solved

An appearance concern, discomfort and breathing difficulty are different questions, even when they occur together. Tell the surgeon which affects you most. Ask what they think is causing each issue and what further assessment is needed. Photographs alone cannot establish every internal problem or settle whether an operation is appropriate.

Understand the proposed reconstruction

Ask whether previous material would remain, be removed or be replaced. If a cartilage graft is proposed, ask where it would come from and why that option suits the plan. Discuss limitations, donor-site considerations and the possibility of further treatment. Ask the surgeon to explain the timing for your case rather than booking around a preferred travel date.

Bring these questions to the surgeon.

  • What is causing my current concern, and what requires examination?
  • What would you remove, retain or reconstruct?
  • Why do you recommend this graft or material for my case?
  • What improvement is realistic, and what might remain unchanged?
What a useful consultation gives you

A useful revision plan explains both the original problem and the limits of another operation.
